Counseling for Professionals and Physicians in Indianapolis

A More Precise Approach to Therapy

You may be successful in many areas of your life and still find yourself struggling with stress, burnout, anxiety, relationship challenges, or patterns that are difficult to change.I provide individualized therapy for adults and couples who want a thoughtful, focused approach to creating meaningful change. Many of my clients are physicians, healthcare professionals, executives, and other high-performing professionals who are accustomed to managing significant responsibility but recognize that some challenges require more than simply working harder or pushing through.

My approach is grounded in Process-Based Therapy, a modern, evidence-informed approach that focuses on identifying the specific patterns contributing to where you feel stuck—and then targeting those patterns directly.

The goal is not one-size-fits-all therapy. It is a more precise, personalized way forward.

Who I Work With

Professionals & Executives

High levels of responsibility can come with sustained pressure, difficult decisions, competing priorities, and little opportunity to step away from the expectations placed on you.

Therapy can provide a confidential place to address stress, anxiety, burnout, relationships, work-life balance, major decisions, and patterns that may be affecting your effectiveness or quality of life.Physicians & Healthcare Professionals

Healthcare professionals face a unique combination of responsibility, emotional demands, time pressure, and expectations.

Through my Doc Renewal Program, I provide confidential counseling for physicians and other medical professionals experiencing burnout, stress, relationship strain, or other challenges related to the demands of professional and personal life. I also provide ongoing support for physicians returning to their professional and personal lives following treatment for substance use or other significant concerns.

Individuals & Couples

You do not need to be a physician or executive to benefit from this approach.

I work with adults and couples experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, anger, addictive patterns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other challenges that can leave capable people feeling stuck.

For couples, I integrate Process-Based Therapy with principles from the Gottman Method to identify the communication, emotional, and behavioral patterns affecting the relationship and create a more focused path toward change.

Therapy Built Around You

Process-Based Therapy

Traditional approaches to therapy sometimes begin with a diagnosis and then apply a particular treatment model.

My approach begins with a different question:

What are the specific processes keeping you stuck?

Together, we look at patterns in areas such as thinking, emotions, behavior, motivation, relationships, and identity to determine where change may have the greatest impact.Rather than relying on one therapeutic model, I integrate evidence-based approaches including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and the Gottman Method based on your individual needs.

This allows therapy to be highly personalized, practical, and focused on the areas most relevant to your life.

Experience Matters

Eric Comstock, M.A., LMFT, LCAC

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor with more than 24 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, healthcare professionals, and other professionals.

In addition to my private practice, my career has included extensive work within healthcare, clinical leadership, professional education, and workforce development. I have trained thousands of healthcare professionals in evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.

I am a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS).

That broader professional experience influences the way I practice therapy: collaborative, evidence-informed, practical, and respectful of your time.

Because I maintain a limited caseload, my work is intentionally individualized and focused.
