A More Precise Approach to Therapy
At certain points in life, even highly capable people can find themselves feeling stuck.
You may be:
- Weighing an important life or career decision, but finding it difficult to move forward
- Managing anxiety, depression, anger, or addictive patterns that don’t seem to fully resolve
- Experiencing strain in your marriage or important relationships
- Feeling pulled in multiple directions and struggling to maintain balance
- Facing ongoing stress, pressure, or burnout
From the outside, things may appear successful. Internally, it can feel very different.
Why Traditional Approaches Can Fall Short
Many therapy approaches focus on labels or follow a fixed method.
But real life is often more complex than that.
Most challenges are influenced by patterns in how we think, respond emotionally, act, relate to others, and see ourselves. When those patterns are not clearly understood and intentionally addressed, progress can sometimes feel slow, inconsistent, or difficult to maintain.
A More Personalized, Results-Oriented Process
My approach is different.
Rather than applying a single model, we take a precision-based approach—working to identify the specific patterns that may be contributing to where you feel stuck and addressing them directly.
This work is grounded in trauma-informed, evidence-based care. I draw from well-established approaches such as:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- The Gottman Method (for couples work)
These approaches are not used as rigid “scripts,” but as tools—selected and adapted based on what may be most helpful for your specific situation.
Our work together is designed to be:
- Highly individualized — tailored to your experiences, goals, and needs
- Focused and efficient — prioritizing areas that may have the greatest impact
- Practical and applicable — offering skills you can begin using in your daily life
- Progress-oriented — helping you track and make sense of changes over time
The Six Core Areas We May Focus On
While every person’s situation is unique, meaningful progress often involves a few key areas. In therapy, we pay attention to these and focus on the ones most relevant to you:
1. Relationships & Communication
The quality of your relationships can affect nearly every part of life. We focus on improving communication, boundaries, and connection in ways that can support healthier interactions. For couples, this may include structured, research-informed methods to strengthen trust and understanding.
2. Clarity & Motivation
Even capable individuals can feel uncertain or disconnected from what matters most. We work to clarify your priorities and strengthen your ability to take purposeful steps in that direction.
3. Behavior & Momentum
Daily actions shape long-term outcomes. We look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck and identify small, meaningful changes that can help build forward movement over time.
4. Thinking Patterns
How you interpret situations can influence how you feel and respond. We work toward developing more flexible and balanced ways of relating to your thoughts.
5. Emotional Agility
Emotions like anxiety, anger, or sadness can feel overwhelming—or avoided altogether. You can learn ways to better understand and respond to emotions so they feel more manageable.
6. Identity & Self-Understanding
How you see yourself can influence your decisions and your sense of direction. We explore and refine this in ways that can support greater confidence and stability.
What It’s Like to Work Together
This is a collaborative, focused process.
You can expect:
- Thoughtful, direct conversations
- Increased clarity around what may be contributing to your challenges
- Practical strategies tailored to your life
- A growing sense of direction and forward movement over time
The aim is to support changes that are not only meaningful, but also more sustainable.
Moving Forward
If you’re looking for a more precise, personalized approach to therapy—one that respects your time, your goals, and the complexity of your life—this work may be a good fit.
The PsychFlex App
You’ll receive complimentary access to the PsychFlex app as part of your work with Eric. Designed to support your progress between sessions, the app offers practical tools and guided exercises drawn from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and other evidence-based approaches—helping you stay engaged, build momentum, and apply what you’re learning in real time.
Couples Work & Relationship Assessment
In his work with couples, Eric integrates principles from John Gottman and Julie Gottman—blending these insights with a process-based, individualized approach to care. When appropriate, couples are invited to complete the Gottman Relationship Checkup, a comprehensive, research-informed assessment developed by The Gottman Institute.
The Checkup explores key dimensions of your relationship, including friendship, intimacy, communication, conflict patterns, shared meaning, and areas such as trust, finances, and parenting. Your responses remain fully confidential and HIPAA-compliant, and are used to help identify the specific dynamics that matter most—so your work together can be more focused, precise, and meaningful.
